Spooky Decor, Round Two!

Spooky Knits: Spiders, Bats & Monsters

Mid-September is the sweet spot for building Halloween decor. A few evenings now means a stress-free October filled with handmade character. This week we’re focusing on three quick, cute designs that turn windows, mantels and noticeboards into eye-catching Halloween and autumn displays: Spider, Bat and Monster.

Our Pattern of the Week is the Spider Knitting Pattern, with 20% off using code SPIDER20 until Monday. Pair it with the Bat and Monster patterns for a lively, family-friendly set that’s perfect for parties and classroom corners alike.

Pattern of the Week: Spider (20% Off)

Knitted spider with long legs posed on a white surface.

The Spider Knitting Pattern is light, quick and brilliant for garlands. Sew a thread to one leg and let a cluster dangle across a window, or perch a single spider on a bookshelf. Use code SPIDER20 at checkout for 20% off this week’s featured pattern.

Bats for Impact

Knitted bat with spread wings ready for hanging.

The Bat Knitting Pattern creates bold silhouettes that read clearly from a distance—great for shop windows and school displays. String a row along a mantel or pin a few above a party table for instant atmosphere.

Monsters for Fun

Cute knitted monster character in bright colours.

The Monster Knitting Pattern keeps things friendly rather than frightening—ideal for younger families. Vary colours for a whole troop; they look excellent grouped in threes on a shelf or used as table markers at a small party.

Display & Finishing Ideas

With three strong shapes, a little planning makes your spooky scene feel polished and intentional. Keep colours cohesive and repeat elements across the set for unity.

  • Mix heights: monsters low on a shelf, spiders mid-air on threads, bats flying high.
  • Unify colours: choose two accent shades (e.g. orange and purple) with black/grey neutrals.
  • Secure neatly: use clear nylon thread for hanging; discreet pins for fabric backdrops.
  • Add texture: pair knits with paper lanterns, candles (LED) and a few knitted leaves for depth.

Care & Storage

All three patterns use DK yarn and store flat in a single box once October is over. Keep a small envelope of spare yarn and a needle with your decorations for quick repairs next year. If pieces will hang in windows, consider acrylic or acrylic-blend yarns for durability.
