Handmade Christmas Decorations to Knit This Week...
The festive season is edging closer, and now is the perfect moment to get ahead with your Christmas knitting. Whether you decorate early or save everything for December, handmade decorations add warmth and character that shop-bought items simply can’t match. This week’s post rounds up three joyful patterns that will help you create a magical, memory-filled home for Christmas.
Our Pattern of the Week is the Knitted Christmas Tree, available with 20% off using code TREE20 until Monday. Alongside it, we’ll explore knitted Stars and Baubles — three Christmas knitting patterns that work beautifully together for the cosiest co-ordinated Christmas yet.
Pattern of the Week: Knitted Christmas Tree

The Knitted Christmas Tree Pattern is a festive favourite — a sweet, structured tree with layered branches that stands beautifully on mantels, shelves or dining tables. Make it in classic green, snowy white, or even deep red for a Scandinavian look. Add tiny beads, sequins or mini pom-poms for baubles, or keep it simple for a natural woodland feel.
This tree knits up faster than you might think, and with only a couple of weeks left before December begins, now is the perfect time to cast on. Use code TREE20 for 20% off this week only.
Stars to Light Up Your Home

The Star Knitting Pattern is wonderfully versatile. These simple five-pointed stars look beautiful on Christmas trees, in window displays, or hanging from garlands. Make them padded for a fuller look or leave them flat for lightweight decorations. Metallic yarns, soft cream or bright festive colours all work brilliantly.
If you like to prepare early for Christmas, stars are the ideal small project — quick, charming, and easy to personalise. A few knitted stars tied with ribbon also make lovely handmade gift toppers.
Knitted Baubles for Colour and Cheer
The Knitted Bauble Pattern lets you create beautiful, lightweight decorations in whatever colours match your theme this year. Mix reds and greens for tradition, or choose soft neutrals for a cosy, modern look. Stuff them lightly for perfect round shapes and try stripes, colour blocks or duplicate stitch motifs for extra interest.
Baubles are also a lovely way to use up leftover DK yarn — a handful in a bowl instantly adds festive charm to any room.
Ideas for Festive Displays
Once your decorations are finished, the fun really begins. Here are a few simple ideas to bring them together:
- Create a mantel scene: place a knitted Christmas Tree at the centre, surrounded by stars and baubles.
- Make a garland: alternate stars and baubles along a length of ribbon or twine.
- Decorate gift boxes: tie one star or bauble to a present as a sweet reusable keepsake.
- Fill a jar: place mini baubles and stars in a glass jar with fairy lights for a glowing centrepiece.
Knitting Your Way Into Christmas
Christmas knitting is all about warmth, colour and shared moments. These three patterns are easy, cheerful projects that help create a welcoming, hand-crafted home for the festive season. Whether you’re knitting for your family, for gifts or simply for the joy of making, each decoration you finish adds a little more magic to the weeks ahead.
