Comic Relief 2019

Friday 15th March 2019 was the day where everyone got a chance to dress up all silly and wear a red nose in support of Comic Relief, raising money to support vulnerable people and communities in the UK and abroad.

My children, as with many, had a non-uniform day to help raise funds, with the option of buying a red nose in school to raise more. This year, however, has seen more people opting for a more environmentally friendly option to the traditional red nose, trying an alternative to single-use plastic. And of course knitting a red nose is a fantastic alternative!

Nearly there!

I did it again. In my usual style I left things a little to the last minute, and was completing the last stitches of the nose, with my coat and shoes on, by the door ready to leave. So Caitlin went to school with the following Nosey chappy in her hair. I wanted him to have arms and legs but as I fell asleep mid-Nose the night before, he had to be armless and legless.

However, his simplicity still attracted some welcoming comments and Caitlin was pleased to show her support for Red Nose Day with him. After the event, I thought it might still be quite nice to finish him to see the completed little fellow. And only with an extra 40minutes he was finished!

Monster Designs?

As well as the simple little chappy above, the little knitted monsters and the emojis are also a bit of an inspiration to help come up with some other interesting features. This can basically be turned into a red nose monster!

Maybe Next Time?

Red Nose Man

Although I completely missed it this year, only just putting up the red nose knitting pattern on the site two weeks after the event, Red Nose Day is a biannual event and so plenty of time for numerous noses to be made before 2021… And this is also a great fundraising opportunity if there are a group of you who fancy getting together to sell a few for the Comic Relief charity.
